Random Team Generator
Enter at least two names to split into teams.
Paste your names, pick a number of teams, and get fair random groups in one click — no captains, no picking-last, no debates about who stacked the sides. The shuffle is genuinely random, so the teams are whatever chance says they are.
Under the hood the generator shuffles your list with cryptographically secure randomness — the same standard your browser uses for encryption — then deals names round-robin into teams like a hand of cards. That guarantees balanced sizes: teams never differ by more than one person, even when the numbers don't divide evenly.
Use it for five-a-side, pub quiz tables, classroom group work, hackathon squads, or splitting the office for games night. Don't like the draw? Hit reshuffle and let fate try again — every deal is fresh, and nobody can blame the algorithm for favoritism.
Frequently asked questions
How does it keep team sizes even?
Names are shuffled randomly, then dealt one at a time into each team in turn — like dealing cards. If the numbers don't divide evenly, the first teams get one extra member, and no two teams ever differ by more than one person.
Can I influence who ends up together?
No — and that's the point. Every deal is a fresh, cryptographically random shuffle. If you need specific pairings, agree them before the draw and paste the rest; the generator handles what's left fairly.
How many names can I paste?
Hundreds — one per line or separated by commas. The generator needs at least two names and at least one team, and you can't have more teams than names.
Does it save my names anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser and disappears when you close the tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
